The Palio Marinaro of Giglio Island, which boasts 52 editions, is a rowing regatta between the districts in which the Porto is divided: Saraceno, Chiesa, and Moletto. The race is completed on rowing boats made up of four rowers and one helmsman; the Palio Marinaro, while being a very lively and competitive race, also represents a gathering moment for the local population and a marvelous show for the Island’s guests. This seafaring competition is the island’s pride, and the athletes that take part have the moral obligation to engage and try to ennoble this event by maintaining sporting fairness behaviors and sincere participation.
