The last weekend of May 2021, on the occasion of the XIII National Day of Mines promoted by ISPRA, in agreement with the Pro Loco of Isola del Giglio, the associations Autori Diari di Viaggio e Cristalli nella Nebbia of Ferrara, and La Mine ONLUS, of Cabernardi (AN), have proposed to have the 2nd Edition of the Art and Culture event “Miniera. Segni e Parole".
The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Isola del Giglio and the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, was organize into 3 days with the following program: the participation of 44 designers to discover the history of the island's mine, a photographic exhibition at the Sala of Lombi in Giglio Castello (with historical photos of the Franco mine in the 1950s-60s), the concert of the S. Fiora miners' choir and lastly a conference on the theme of the mine, to
celebrate what was a defining era for the history of the island.
A particularly significant fact is that the protagonists of this event all have a kinship link with the Gigliese miners of the 50-60s.
