Stories and places of extraordinary beauty, a landscape to fall in love with, and authentic islanders passionate about life. Giglio Island has a genuine heritage.

A thousand year old island waiting to be discovered amidst pristine spaces and ancient traditions. Here you can find the best of all worlds for an unforgettable holiday, from the sea to nature, from relaxation to fun; discovering Giglio will not be an ordinary holiday but an unforgettable experience that will remain with you for the rest of your life.
In addition to enchanting beaches and breathtaking views of the coasts and villages, it is possible to rediscover that “human scale” that a small community like the one on Giglio can convey; those sometimes forgotten values that can only be found on a small island, immersed in
nature, welcomed by the hospitality and warmth of the people, surrounded by that feeling of absolute tranquility that small Mediterranean islands know how to instill naturally. As soon as you arrive in the picturesque harbor with its colorful houses, you will immediately understand
that you cannot help but fall in love with the Island of Giglio.

The winds, bad weather and scarce land with its inconstant yields dominate Giglio Island. Those who come here – many are artists – are fascinated by a dark energy. Whoever leaves has the suspicion of having lost it.

Those who return have the relief of finally being able to set it free. Giglio is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park as well as the so-called “Sanctuary of the cetaceans”, a protected area of the Tyrrhenian Sea, established in 1999 thanks to an agreement between Italy, France and the Principality of Monaco, with which the three countries undertake to protect this natural habitat which today hosts fin whales, sperm whales and dolphins.

In addition to incredibly transparent waters, the island offers visitors various types of fascinating coasts, from rocky ones in the eastern part of the island that slope gently towards the sea, to sandy ones, equipped for seaside tourism.

The beauty of the island, however, is not only that of its sea and coasts: inland, your eyes will be captivated by the beauty of the steep terrain snatched by man from the mediterranean scrub and cultivated since the time of the Etruscans; perched vineyards of native grapes, Ansonica, suspended between dry granite walls and the blinding blue sky and sea. The climatic conditions and a unique terrain create a wine of exceptional value, straw yellow in colour, with marked aromas, a warm and harmonious flavor as well as a contained acidity. These grapes are also particularly suited for sun drying; they are spread on granite rocks and give life to a sweet passito wine of great quality.

Traditional cuisine is part of the daily island life; there are countless typical dishes to taste, often with a base of simple fish such as fish in “scaveccio” which is floured, fried and seasoned with a particular vinegar-based sauce. Even at dessert time, the traditional flavors are always on the table: the “panificato”, made with figs, pine nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, grape jam, orange zest, cinnamon and chocolate, is the dessert par excellence on Giglio.

The mild climate of the island, caressed by the winds and sea, makes it incredibly pleasant from April to October. If summertime is its maximum expression – with an energy that pervades the island and its charming villages – then autumn and spring are precious opportunities for a holiday in the spirit of genuine adventures.

Whether you are looking for a “slow paced” holiday – enchanted by the sweetness of the sea, immersed in long walks over paths far away from chaos, pollution and stress – or an active outdoor one with activities ranging from mountain biking to cycling, to water sports – on Giglio Island you will rediscover excitement once again.
